Community Supported Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) provides members with a weekly share of produce, on a subscription basis, directly from the farmer. Our farm plans to deliver 20 weeks of produce from Mid May – Mid October, to a convenient location near each member’s home. A CSA is many things, some of which are: ,Connecting the consumer of
farm products directly with the farmer, thus supporting local agriculture while
saving the consumer money and providing them with an understanding of how their
food is grown and harvested. This is a cost savings if the same high-quality
produce was purchased at retail prices. ,Providing the members of the
community with the option to have the “Ultimate Farm Experience”. CSA members may choose to experience the
planning, seeding, growing and/or harvesting of farm products by spending time
on the farm of which they are members. A reduced membership fee is given for
members who wish to work on the farm. ,Gaining a “Farm Educational
Experience” by attending field days on the farm for activities such as Insect
Identification, Butterfly Identification, etc. ,Sharing the risk with the
farmer. Occasionally a farmer may
experience a crop failure due to weather, pests or disease. The member will also experience this by not
having the expected amount of produce delivered. |
